Teen Suicide?!

Question:

Teen Suicide?

From 1952 to 1992 the incidence of suicide among teens and young adults tripled and today is the third leading cause of death for teenagers aged 15 to 19

Why do you think this is?

Answers:

Tweens and teens (getting younger and younger each year) are desensitized to the shock factor of our world.

In the media children see violence, no family unit, abuse, war, sex, drugs and every other darkness the world has to offer on a daily basis. Children no longer see this as a "big deal" because it has been normalized.

Our society has normalized suicide and other self destructive behaviors. Its no longer as taboo because these days everyone know someone who has commited suicide. This is also the reason for an increase of drugs and sex...(i.e. all the media darlings of young hollywood) its all been so glamourized.

These young children have a hard time conceptualizing that suicide is FOREVER. They see it as an easy way out and there is rarely someone telling them this is wrong or giving them proper coping skills . They then turn on TV and see how glamorous the self destruction can be...

The only way all of this will stop is to bring back morals to our great Country by allowing children to be children. Be there for them, teach them right from wrong, help them cope with the world we have brought them into.
