What do I do?!

Question:

What do I do?

My liscense was suspended about 2 months ago for 4 months. Since then, my husband has had to take me to work everyday (which he is angry about). I take the bus home. He works nights so I stay at home all night without him and without a way to go anywhere. I have found myself flipping out for no reason and becoming lonely and depressed and taking things out on him. I don't know what to do and feel like no one knows what I am going through. This is effecting my relationship, and my job, and myself. I wish I could just feel better.

Answers:

You may very well have developed some anxiety over your situation. It's very common, and some times are worse than others.

Your situation sounds like it's put a lot of stress on you, especially since you've lost much of your independence by not being able to drive. Since you said that you are "flipping out for no reason", it sounds like you may have some general anxiety. Anxiety can cause depression, feelings of despair and loneliness, and of course when you're feeling so crappy, your relationships and ability to work well are highly affected! It's very real, very common, and very treatable.

You can start by going to see a regular physician; doctors are trained to care for your emotional and mental well-being as well as broken bones and colds. Your physician may recommend medication, talk therapy, or a combination of both. Both of these things can help immensely!

You can also call a counseling hotline. The people there are highly trained to help you sort out your feelings and can assist you in finding a physician or therapist if you feel like you need one.

Just remember you're not alone, and stressful situations can cause anxiety in anyone. It's very treatable. There is absolutely no reason for you to keep feeling this way! Hope you start feeling better soon.

Take care.
