When I think about death, it makes me extremely uncomfortable and anxious.?!

Question:

When I think about death, it makes me extremely uncomfortable and anxious.?

I am only 25 years old. This should not be plaguing me! I do have faith in God, so I really should not be wigging out. But my best friend Chelsa died in January and she was only 25. She was in a car accident. So the older I get, the more I am aware that people can die in a split second and it could very easily happen to me or my loved ones. And without visible, tangible CERTAINTY of God, it just gives me the heebie jeebies to think about dying... to the point that I feel weird planning my future, because I'm afraid I'll never live that long. Is this normal?? Ways to minimize this type of thinking????

Answers:

i have been very afraid of death and dying for a long time now..... but...recently things have gotten better for me... i read a book called "No Death, No Fear" by Thich Nhat Hahn and it has transformed my life......

i went into surgery thinking i was gonna die...but having such peace about it....because of this book......

if it is really bad...you might need to talk to a therapist... and sort through things... it is hard to lose a friend period...but to lose your best friend must be unbearable.....

i have lost friends and felt my own mortality...but i wasn't as close to them as you are to Chelsa....

you can never have certainty about religion.... it just doesn't happen.... i believe there is some sort of God.... i don't know what form...but i think it is some form of positive energy that we call LOVE.....

there have been people with near death experiences who have seen a light with relatives that have passed on.... and some who have seen a blazing pit......

doctors still can't figure out if this is caused by something like lack of oxygen to the brain or if...just maybe....it is real.....

you will find your own belief system eventually... don't let anybody shove one down your throat... not even your parents or somebody that you don't know like me.....

again..i reccommend talking with a therapist....who can help you vocalize and search through your own beliefs..until you find one that comforts you......
