I'm Bipolar gun shot thru my window possibly from neighbor who is Paranoid Schiz. Please READ?

Hi:

Sunday night late a bullet came in my window missed my head by about 3 or so inched and imbedded into wall. Police called, officer came saw point of entry, flight path, and impact area in wall. Absolutely someone was aiming for my head.

I told him as he asked if there were an any problems and I said yes and told him of my neighbor. He was very concerned for my safety due to the fact that it is obvious that someone was aiming directly at my head. When I told him I have Bipolar, I had to explain it then to him, and proceeded to tell him I am medicated correctly...

Why would someone shoot at me? I have no idea other than the fact my neighbor has serious issues of Paranoid Schiz. and many other issues. Her behavior has been escalating and causing fear not only for myself but the other neighbor as well. She did threaten my life on a few occassions and so on, many other incidences before this.

So I am medicated correctly and suddenly his whole attitude changed.

He pointed to the site of impact and began to say this is just "crazy", stopped himself 1/2 way thru "crazy" and said ohhhh I'm sorry I didn't mean.....

What the heck? I was shot at and not he is so afraid to use the wrong word, and telling me how dangerous the situation is.

He talks to my neighbor (who I new was going to play the she is crazy she needs medicine card and she did.

The officer cam back to talk to me but suddenly he said that her threats were nothing, the shooting (can't prove it was her yet) is nothing and I am just imaginig this whole situation is more than being just plain silly!

Thoughts and advice are needed please...behavior from her has now escalated even more...Obviously police are not willing to help someone who is crazy (me having Bipolar and stable) but are willing to accept word of escalating paranoid schiz and I was the one almoset killed!

This is NOT GOOD ENOUGH! Modern forensics and ballistics can, through use of lasers, pinpoint the origin of that shot, extract the bullet, and, given probable cause, if from his place, get a search warrant and seize weapons for testing. That is the absolute minimum I would expect. Furthermore, should such tests conclude that the bullet came from his weapon, he should be arrested and detained under the relevant legislation for proper psychiatric evaluation; all weapons forfeited, and a prohibition applied on getting ones in future. Go back to the police station in person, and DEMAND to speak with a senior officer, stating that you are extremely dissatisfied with the response, so far, and fully intend pursuing the matter, by making written complaints to the commisioner, the Mayor, informing the media, and taking civil action. This should stir those sluggards up! You are being shrugged off. Put up curtains (lightproof), and keep them closed at night, and consider moving elsewhere, at least until the matter is resolved. I would carry a pocket tape recorder, record her threats (make copies: keep some elsewhere!), and seek legal advice on the best course (illegal in some countries, but what is better, a fine, or a bullet?). A copy of such a tape, wiped of fingerprints, in a typed envelope to police, saying: "from an interested party in such and such a case" [ insert minimal identifying details here] could PROVE such threats, beyond dispute. If I HAD to stay, I'd try to reduce the window of opportunity for her, by going and coming at different times, preferably in darkness, and wearing all black, staying indoors, preferably behind walls. Consider your options carefully.
