Can you have anxiety problems even with a low pulse?!

Question:

Can you have anxiety problems even with a low pulse?

I'm going to the doctor the day after tomorrow, but for right now I'm kind of freaking out...and I'd really appreciate any help :]

I've got a bunch of symptoms that sound like anxiety - shaking, constant dizziness, difficulty concentrating - and a few months ago I got assaulted, so all that fits pretty well. But my pulse and BP are both really low - resting pulse is mid-40s and it never gets over the 60s. I'm totally out of shape - and hydrated, and no anemia or thyroid problems or anything. Does this makes sense? Does anxiety necessarily have to boost your heart rate?

Thanks for any advice...

Answers:

You can have different symptoms for anxiety, but a common one is the boosted heart rate. But the heart rate is usually boosted because of things like your thoughts are racing or you are thinking of a troubling or disturbing event.

My husband has had trouble with anxiety and he does see a doctor regularly and take pills for it. If you can, have some one sit with you and talk to you or hold you or lie down with you - play some calming music or talk about funny things that have happened to either of you. Try not to be alone or in a too quiet environment.

When my husband was having the anxiety attacks frequently, I would just lay down beside him and hold him and talk softly to him and tell him funny stories-- anything to keep him from focusing on himself.

Also, just a warning- and I am sure your doctor will tell you- the pills he takes made him VERY sleepy at first. You will have to tell your teachers or boss what is going on if you do take those kinds of pills.

Its a difficult situation and I hope everything turns out okay for you. Please try not to be alone. That's my best advice.
