Question:

What is the best thing to do to help a 26 year old son, who is sick, but works and continues to abuse drugs?

He lives with us and has nowhere to go. We can't kick him out due to his illness. He works every week but never has money to give us. I pay most of his bills. His money seems to go to drugs. He's been in rehab this year but came out and got right back into the drug scene. It's the only thing he does bad. He has no girlfriend, no car, no license. He is lonely and gets caught up in using drugs. I can't seem to get any money from him for bills; he always has an excuse that he owes the "bad" guys.
I would ask him to leave but knowing, for a fact, he has no options but to stay here, I find it difficult to pack up all his medicine and say good-bye. What can we do that will help him?

I will explain more about this. He is Type 1 Diabetic; newly diagnosed. This involves needed a lot of supplies. The insulin has to stay refrigerated. He has meters, test strips, needles, pen needles, and two kinds of insulin. He has to have food and he has to have insulin. He has been treated for depression in the past and now seems to be very despondent. He is on a suspended sentence and gets a ride to work with my son-in-law who also lives with us. He is a good guy except that I see him doing the drugs. If he was a kid, and not having these health problems, of course I would have no problem asking him to leave. He doesn't go out, has no friends or acquaintances. The "bad" guy, I guess, comes to his work. He holes up in his room unless he's sober, then he comes out and he's the best guy. I see his love of the drugs. I can't let him go, say take your needles and find a refrigerator. His life is not full of other druggies or anything like that. He doesn't hang out.
