Am I overreacting?!

Question:

Am I overreacting?

Recently, on Yelp!, I wrote the following and got the following response:

Chicago Police officer to a burglary victim: Can you just forget about it?

While I was at the hospital, I believe it was my rich landlord, here in the Gold Coast, who burglarized my apartment to the tune of over $2,500. The cop who arrived was certainly a nice guy. But he said to me, believe it or not, "Can you just forget about it?" Not once, in over a month, did a detective, or anyone else see fit to visit my apartment.

Two weeks ago, I contacted my alderman, Vi Daley, and my Congressman, Danny Davis, via e-mail. They never saw fit to respond.

Do you have any ideas of what I should do next? Or should I just lick my wounds and understand that because I am not rich or famous, I really have no legal rights.

Dude you sound like a complete whack job. Get back on the meds before they take you away.

I then received a deluge of hateful responses. The fact is that I was in the hospital for psychosis. Now I feel so depressed from all this. Am I overreacting? How could I block this cold-hearted bunch of people from my mind?

Actually, among the missing items is a queen sized mattress. I've been sleeping on the hard wood frame since 5/30/07. I returned to alcohol because it is the only way I can fall asleep. And I stopped seeing mental health professionals because I do not want to be hated anymore. People hate people who are mentally ill. This is why my landlord saw fit to invade my apartment.

Actually, my landlord is now booting me out successfully because I threatened suicide. This is, apparently, a crime, so the judge decided that I had no right to legal representation or to a jury. That's right, suffer from mental illness, broadcast it to the world, and you lose all your rights.

Answers:

you have every right to be upset about your stuff being stolen. you did all that you can do legally, by calling the cops and such. yes cops are *** holes and seem to somehow get you when your down. things like this happen, i know because i have stole from before. being upset about your stuff is okay, the only thing you really can do is move on, try to recoup and save to get some replacement stuff, it sucks i know. don't listen to what people are saying to you, there a bunch of idoits that have nothing else to do but laugh and kick someone that is already down, i'm the kind-of person that picks people up, so just to let you know, it will get better and hopefully you can get some of your stuff back, but i wouldn't count on it, cause life sucks!!! good luck
