How do you become not co-dependent?!

Question:

How do you become not co-dependent?

How do people learn to not be co-depenent? I would love to feel good on my own. I always need a significant other to feel good and then when I am with someone I always tend to give too much of myself to satisfy the other. How do you cure this problem?

Answers:

i think your biggest problem is that there is something in your life that makes you unhappy. You need to find what the problem is. Deal with it. That will then help you to stop trying to find something to fill in your time with or someone to distract you from what it is your mind is subconsciously running away from. From there I suggest that you then start trying to find things to do by yourself. Keep in mind you will have a difficult time having a good relationship that lasts long if you are going into the relationships looking to feel good because if you cant feel good by yourself no matter how much you give to other person your mates will eventually see through your needy attitude towards relationship.

If i were you, i would decide that i will not have another relationship until i have found what it is about myself that is troubling me, dealt with it and learned to enjoy my own company.

Co-dependency in my experience is usually as a result of an insecurity or trouble that we are trying to escape by using someone or something as a crutch. Think about it, those that smoke crack or weed are usually looking to evade a thought or trouble that they are going through.
