Why do psychiatrists prescribe stimulants for kids with "ADHD"?!

Question:

Why do psychiatrists prescribe stimulants for kids with "ADHD"?

These are amphetamine-like drugs ... why would they give them to kids that they think are hyperactive? That doesn't make any sense at all to me ... I knew a girl in middle school and high school who was on ritalin ... she like me but I didn't like her back ... in any case, she behaved like she was totally insane and knowing that she was on a stimulant may explain it

Answers:

Kids "bouncing off the walls" is not what ADHD causes directly, it is a biproduct of it. People with ADHD have trouble focusing on one thing at a time. In fact they are probably focusing on at least ten or more things at a time. Usually nothing that is even important to what is going on. The kids "bouncing off the walls" is caused because their brain is starting to send a signal but instead of that signal getting to where it is supposed to go it does not get there. researchers have said that the ADHD person's brain's half have the inabilty to talk to each other.

Stimulents increase blood flow by making the human body more efficient. They do not cause more hyperness as what you are thinking, it is giving energy. The desired effect of giving an ADHD person a stimulant is that it will increase the blood flow in the brain which will help that same person's brain to communicate better, helping to get the messages from one side of the brain to the Other.

Yes one big side effect of giving an ADHD person a stimulant is that they will have more energy. The trick is getting the right stimulat, as ther are many types, and the proper dose.

Stimulats are miracle drugs. However it is because they can so easily be abused by anyone, that they are not used to their full potential.

I hope I have helped.
