Nerves/stress problem?!
Question:
Nerves/stress problem?
I have been going thru this particular problem for a few months now, and honestly dont know if I should see my Dr. or what. For perhaps the last 3 or 4 months, It seems that virtually every single time I get frustrated, aggrivated, agitated, or in any way my nerves get on edge, my stomach begins to burn and It makes me gag and throw up. If I havent eaten anything I just dry heave until the sensation stops. ( usually the sensation ends within 2-3 minutes) Antacids dont seem to have any real affect, nor do I have any problems with eating or have pain or discomfort at any other time. The problem is, I have an extremely high stress job, ( taking care of severely mentally and physically handicapped individuals so I listen to alot of out of control screaming and physical attacks on a daily basis) And I have a girlfriend with an extremely badly behaved 4 year old child. So I dont know if it could be stress or if it may be an ulcer or what. Any thoughts?

I should have mentioned this, my personal relationship with my girlfriend is absolutely wonderful with the exception of her childs behavior issues. Also I work in a group home 16 hours a day. ( My shift is 10 hours "active" and 6 hours I am there in the house as an "on call" backup staff person) so I spend on average 72 hours a week in that house.

Definitely sounds stress-related! During one stressful time in my life, I ended up with an ulcer, but had a bad pain with it and assoc. with certain foods that would trigger it, along with the stress. I went to the dr. first; took maalox, and tried to engage activities to calm me down, like walking, bike riding, a hobby. I haven't been bothered with it since.
