I'm depressed and my parents won't do anything because they're so oblivious. So !

Question:

I'm depressed and my parents won't do anything because they're so oblivious. So what do I do?

My parents are really oblivious, and I've asked them if they would become more active and that was 3 months ago. Right now we have no food in the fridge, the dishes aren't clean, the laudry is dirty, we haven't gone out in a month, and I feel like I should run away to my favorite place which is Miami, Florida.

Answers:

Some times you just have to take things into your own hands.

Just start becoming self sufficient. You can get out of your funk (i.e. depression) by giving your self tasks to do. In the real world people aren't going to do thing for you. As my dad says, "If you see something that needs doing, do it."

Start with the laundry. Dark colored items you use cold water. Whites and pastels use hot and things like towels and jeans get the warm water treatment. If you mess up use it as an excuse to get their attention to the fact that you need help.

Dishes are easy. What you should do is start cleaning up the place. Open windows and let the air in. Do stuff to make your house uncomfortable for couch potatoes.

As to food: ask your parents for the debit card and their pin number and offer to buy food. Tell them that food is kinda important and if they're not willing to get up off their butts and get it themselves you're going to.

Make a nuisance of your self. Be overly clean, irratatingly helpful and keep prodding them to be more active.
