Specific name for this mental disorder?
Is there a specific name for it when a person always thinks she may be pregnant? I want to come prepared when I go see my shrink.
Answers:
There is something called Pseudocyesis which is also known as False Pregnancy. This is a pretty rare disorder where the woman has a fixed belief that she is pregnant. There are even some physical manifestations such as a distended abdomen and menstrual irregularities. Causes for Pseudocyesis are usually from emotional conflicts of some kind, wish-fulfillment in which the woman wants so much to be pregnant that she truly feels that she is, and biological changes.
