What do you recommend to help me sleep and stay asleep through the night?!

Question:

What do you recommend to help me sleep and stay asleep through the night?

Lately I've been so tired at the end of the day, but when I finally do get in bed my body just refuses to shut down. My mind just starts overworking itself with what I did for the day and what I need to do tomorrow and the day after and so on and so on. I've tried the whole relax the mind and the body will follow, but it just doesn't seem to work. HELP ME!!! What can I do so I won't feel so tired @ work?

Answers:

Be careful with melatonin because it can interact with many drugs.
You can get a prescription from your doctor for Rozarem, Lunesta or Ambien CR. All of these can be habit forming, but Rozarem is the least of the three.
I have heard from many patients that Tylenol PM leaves you with a hangover type of effect. I have experienced this personally.
For something to aid your sleep that you can get over the counter, try Benadryl (not long acting) 50mg before you go to bed. Then try reading by a dim lamp in your bed. When you start to feel drowsy, put down your book, shut off the lamp and you should be able to go to sleep.
