A psychiatrist is a medical professional - they have been to med school. Check with the college you are in to find out what premed classes are - usually biology 1 & 2, chemistry 1 & 2, organic chem, biochemistry, microbiology, calculus 1 & 2, physics 1 & 2, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology 1 & 2.
To be a psychologist - a therapist that cannot prescribe drugs in most states - you would get a phd in psych - to be a counselor you would get a masters in psychology, or counseling or something similiar...you would want to look into classes like psych, sociology, abnormal psych, human growth and development, cognitive and behavioral therapy, etc.
