Answers:

I can try to answer from experience. Anways, I imagine that cps has already came out and investigated you, for whatever reason. It may be that they saw something but they don't have enough on you to take your kids out of the home, but it is enough for them to intervene and try to correct the probelm.

If this is correct, then you are lucky they are giving you a chance to keep your kids, and they didn't just come out, investigate, then go running off with your kids before giving you a chance to right the wrong.

But to answer your question, cps has asked or ordered you to do this based off somehting in your background they pulled up, something they saw, or something you admitted or inadvertantly said while they interviewed you. Again, they saw something, but not enough to come out and take your kids, but enough for them to intervene. With the drug testing, you will go to a center or either a health department and be asked a whole bunch of questions about drugs, whether you have ever been exposed to them, have a family history of it, etc, you will then have the actual test done, and the results will be sent immediately to the social worker. Depending on the results, they may take your kids right then and there if you fail, then you will be referred to drug counseling and be tested once a week, or depending on what drug was found in your system.

As for the mental health, you will have to attend this in 4 sessions. The first session will be about 2-3 hours long, and the pyschologist will interview you, ask you some questions about your situation, ask how you feel about it, etc. The second session will be a long test, usually about 300 questions, asking about your childhood, if you loved your parents, if they loved you, etc, after these questions, you may take a personal asessement on a computer, which is about 180 questions long and takes about 30-45 minutes, your estimated stay will be about 2-3 hours. The 3rd session will be somewhat like the 2nd, and the 4th session will be more questions and an actual IQ test will be given. The last session will be about 4 hours long, afterward, your results will be mailed immediately to the worker, and depending on the results and what the pyschologist says, the worker will take it from there. Oh, and if need be, they can order the psychologist to do an anger assessment to see if you have a mood or anger disorder, that can be included as part of the mental health evaluation.

Keep in mind the psychologist works for cps and you want to be cooperative, but not too forthcoming with anything that could be held against you. I mean, if you were abused as a child, it would be best not to disclose that, if you are taking meds for schizophenia, don't disclose that, but if you have a heart condition, you take meds for, tell them, but again, be cooperative, but without hanging yourself. They will ask you about your health and a whole bunch of other seemingly senseless questions. Have you ever been attracted to the same sex? Had same sex- sex? Had any stds, abortions, etc!

You have to remember that again, cps saw something, but not enough for them to barge in and leave you childless. Right now they are scrapping for anything they can use against you, whether a failed drug test, a hidden mental disorder, whatever. You don't want to give them anything to use against you!!! You want to get them out of your life as quickly as they came. I'm not telling you to go against them, you just have to play their game, and beat them at it.

I understand that there are some good workers out there, but they are few, far, and in between, and the bad out number the good. So be careful and proceed with caution. I know this is long, but I want to enlighten as many folks as I can about cps, becuase I hate to see anybody else go through what I have been through with with these corrupt people, just because they didn't know they had rights and they let cps push them around.
