Is there a direct correlation between body odor and mental health?!
Question:
Is there a direct correlation between body odor and mental health?
I am not looking for answers that involove spirituality, faith or homiopathic recipes. I consider this to be a medical/physiological based question.
My daughter is bi-polar, she as had problems since she was 5 years old, (when real socialization started). She has rages that turn off and on like a switch. She is very emotional almost all the time. When she rages she smells really bad, like something rotten. When she comes down from a rage (lasting anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours) her smell is pleasant, almost flower-like.
I was told to take her to an endocornologist (sp). I live in the outback (sort of) and that is virtually impossible. Any ideas.
BTW: When she reached puberty she mellowed A LOT. It seems that her chemical imbalance leveled out quite a bit. She has not been in-patiented or sedated in 5 years now.

I am not a doc... but its strange that you ask this... I have bipolar as well, and I've noticed that when I go off...I get a stronger, less pleasant scent myself.. in fact I just got clinical deodorant for those times.. because its sooo strong.
So yeah.. I think because it is a chemical imbalance..there must be a connection..
