Answers:

If you know little about acid, a good place to start is the vaults at erowid (http://erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd.shtm... You can read through a multitude of experiences other people have had with the drug there (http://erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_l... LSD is a very powerful drug but a trip on it can be a very pleasurable and meaningful experience. The three main risks associated with LSD are: HPPD, Flashbacks, and bad trips. None of these are as prominent in reality as you hear and you will most likely not experience any of these unless you take it way too often or in too high of doses. HPPD, hallucinogen persisting perception disorder is an affliction in which you retain some of the perceptual altering effects of hallucinogens, even after the trip is over. While never really incapacitating people, these can become very distracting and annoying, but normally going away after a few weeks/months. Flashbacks are when something happens in the real world that retriggers a mini trip, even though there are no substances are in your body. These are very rare and as long as you dont take high doses (5 hits+) and you use it irregularly, you can pretty much expect not to have any. Bad trips are most likely the main thing that people are concerned about. One thing you have to remember with hallucinogens is that set and setting are of paramount importance. The state of your mind as well as your location will significantly affect the trip. If you are in an anxious, fearful, depressed, or otherwise negative state of mind, you should not take any hallucinogens (except maybe X but thats completely different). Also, you want to trip in a place that is comfortable and safe. Try not to be around any sharp objects or anything that seems like it would be dangerous. Another good idea would to be to have a "trip-sitter", someone who watches you throughout the duration of the trip and makes sure that you do not do anything that would endanger yourself. It would be preferable, though not essential that this person has experience with psychedelics. A good backup to have in the event of a bad trips is benzodiazepines such as valium or xanax (bars). These will calm you and help you out if the trip begins to take a turn for the worse. If you are not completely comfortable with taking it, you should not take it. Sorry I realize now that I kindof told you more about the risks that what its like, but erowid is a great place to get a feel from a bunch of different people as to what its like.
