LAMICTAL, CELEXA, and ADDERALL? Causing me to RAPID CYCLE?!

Question:

LAMICTAL, CELEXA, and ADDERALL? Causing me to RAPID CYCLE?

My Celexa was just increased to 20 mgs. and I think it's causing me to have horrible anger outbursts. I'm also on Adderall, which I'm discontinuing because I think it's aiding to my mood swings. I feel much better when I don't take the Adderall. My question is, should I be on an anti-depressant while taking Lamictal? The Celexa caused me to go into a hypomanic stage in the past.

Answers:

There are so many varients to what you wrote, I don't know where to start.

If you suffer from mood disorders, you shouldn't be on aderrall. Lamictal is a good drug in containing bipolar mania, but it's rendered useless if you're taking amphetamine.

I've been treated for mood disorders and it's good to take a mood stabilizer with an antidpressant, however, celexa is not an antidepressant that works well with mood disorders. Celexa is an SSRI - you would be better off with something that's not serotogenic, like welburtrin.....

I'm not sure if you have access to tons of meds or your seeing a Dr. - but no Psychiatrist would prescribe aderral to someone with mood disorders.

Stay away from aderrall and talk to your doctor about welbutrin (budeprion xl) as an antidepressant as an adjunct to Lamictal or some other mood stabilizer that works for you. Let your Dr. decide what you need, unless your confident in your reasearch and experience with other drugs to advise them on what works best for you.

Don't self diagnose or self prescribe.
