Dreaming Problem?!

Question:

Dreaming Problem?

Does anyone ever stay asleep in order to keep dreaming? I think I have a problem because I do this often (Im unemployed at the moment.) I wake up after about 8 hours and I'd rather go back to sleep to continue dreaming. There is something nice and comforting about it. I wonder if it could be a strange sign of depression? It seems to happen more when Ive had to much to drink, or if I took melatonin the night before. Anyone have any experience with this?

Answers:

It could very well be a sign of depression if you use it to 'escape' or avoid reality.

Sleeping and dreaming can provide temporary relief. But sadly, sleeping too much often makes symptoms of depression worse. It is best not to sleep during the daytime. Get up and do 'anything.' Go for a walk. Water plants... anything. It's important to keep active.
