Any males ever been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder?!

Question:

Any males ever been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder?

I am looking for men who have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, or Depression, or Anxiety. My 'boyfriend' seems to have overwhelming symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder according to the list of symptoms from the NARSAD fact sheet, used to think his 'problem' was depression but it seems to come and go to often to be depression. He is not keen on therapy and psychologists, etc. after having one ask him if he would visit his father over Christmas when his father is dead and has been for many years. I understand why he is not so trusting of it, but if anyone can lend me some advice on what to say/do to help him see that he really needs therapy and that I'm not saying this just to try to control his life that would be great. Especially if you've been treated or are in counseling and did not believe in it on the onset. Thanks so much in advance for your help and sharing your experience.

Answers:

it is less common in males but they do get it too.
talk to him - be very understanding - don't jump to conclusions - ask him how he is feeling - slowly introduce the idea of talking to someone (not necessarily a therapist) - just be understanding and don't push.
but as for what the other guys said - don't take a step back from him - he doesn't need that - he needs you.
