Why does depression hit when times are so good?!

Question:

Why does depression hit when times are so good?

It's kind of funny, today was a great day, but I feel so depressed. Why is it that life can be so good, but people are still depressed? I'm home from school, making good money, gf is okay (a little trouble, but nothing new), great friends, etc. I just don't get it. I feel so empty. I know I'm not alone; depression (or at least mild cases like mine) hit everyone. I know peaks come with troughs, but I just don't get it.

Answers:

Someone once said that depression is suppressed anger. While things may be pretty okay right now, ask yourself what may be holding you down? Sometimes it's not the things themselves so much as how afraid we might be of the intensity of the anger. Think it over. If this is what's happening, I hope a spotlight shines right on whatever it is that's making you feel so empty inside. God Bless!
