Feeling depressed after quiting job of 30 years......?!

Question:

Feeling depressed after quiting job of 30 years......?

A little over a month ago I quit a job of 30 years because it just wasn't working for me any longer. There was an incident that prompted my resignation and having been a good employee all of those years I was very disappointed that no attempts were made to help resolve the issue. I am a nurse.
I started a job last week at a local nursing home. It put me in such a state of depression after my first night, I quit the next day. I am the kind of person who has spent my whole life pleasing others over my own happiness. I'm tired of doing that now but don't know how to break this lifetime cycle. Please no answers of reprimand. I feel what I feel and need understanding right now. Thank you.

Hey MommaD....
You are free as a bird now! I can understand that you feel bad about the way that you left your job of 30 years; but that's behind you now, and you can't change that.
But what you can change is your new life! Find something that you really enjoy doing and take it from there. Any hobbies? Any vacations to take? Any friends to take shopping? Want to join a church? Volunteer work? The options are endless...... but the important thing is that you do what makes YOU happy. Why not start out with a body massage; a new hairdo and a manicure. Then, go see a show and afterwards treat yourself to a fabulous meal!
You deserve it!

Good luck and God bless.
