Lexapro experience?!

Question:

Lexapro experience?

Hi, everyone! I'm in the process of switching from Paxil to Lexapro and was wondering if anyone has feedback on Lexapro. I'll listen to it all...the good/bad/ugly! I've been diagnosed with panic disorder for 9 years. Right now, I'm on 30mg of Paxil and 2.5mg of Lexapro and am slowly making this switch with my doctor. Any comments would be appreciated!

Paxil definitely helped me get back on track. When I was on 40mg, I would go YEARS without a panic attack. The reason I'm swtiching is because Paxil was elevated to a Category D drug (shown to harm fetuses) and I am thinking about trying for a baby soon. I don't have the option to get off meds entirely, so I'm trying to make the smartest choice.

I guess I should also tell you I'm a 28 year old female! Did any of you gain weight on Lexapro? I'm looking to shed my "Paxil weight"!!!

Answers:

I did the exact same thing you did. I was gaining weight with Paxil and my Dr. tried Lexapro which was new at the time and I really liked it. I did not have any side effects to speak of. It helped with my anxiety and depression very well. I got off of it about 2 year and a half ago just b/c I felt better. You should not ever get off of those medications cold turkey like I did. It make me sick for bout 3/4 days. Like I had the flu or something but being on the medicine itself was a good experience for me. I know medicine affects people differently but for me it was good.
