I think I have anxiety?!

Question:

I think I have anxiety?

When I was younger, I had an extreme fear of escalators for no apparent reason. It eventually went away, and then a few months ago it suddenly came back. I started to shake violently, I got dizzy, my hands were sweating and my vision got blurry. I also had trouble moving my neck, I jerked back and forth and couldn't control my body. Then, when I was on stage for band and jazz band concerts, the same symptoms occurred. I had to walk off stage during a competition because I was shaking so hard. Now, I can't even make presentations in front of my classes without the same symptoms, and I can't stand on balconies or even the second floor of my mall or any other open spaces. Sometimes these symptoms will occur randomly during my classes when I am just sitting and taking notes. It is not a motion sickness because it does not occur on escalators that are enclosed by walls, like ones going to the bottom floors of department stores. Am I developing anxiety? 15, no drugs/alcohol, female

Answers:

Sounds like it. The thing about anxiety is it can come on suddenly and often you don't know why. It can be triggered from a thought, smell, sound, sight, etc. Some people know the triggers, but others it is unconscience. I suggest you talk to your doctor and let them know what you suspect. They can give you idea on how to handle this either with your mind- biofeddback or a simple pill you take that calms you down. hang in there and see the doctor asap. There is no need to suffer like this when something can be done.
