Can someone talk to me about Divalproex?
I 'm a vet w/ PTSD & I have very violent thoughts. My doc gave me this new drug. I know its for bi-polar / sezuires but that's about all I know. just started can't gage the effectivness yet.

It is known as a "mood stabilizer". It may be very difficult to gage the effects of it as it helps to keep you balanced and clear-headed. It is often used with an antidepressant in mood disorders to keep patients from having manic (hyperactive) episodes, these episodes are often accompanied by delusions, this is probably similar to the effect that the doctor is looking for with you (controlling violent thoughts).
