Is 12 years old to young for sleeping pills?!

Question:

Is 12 years old to young for sleeping pills?

Because I think I need them but I'm only 12 and my mom says I'm to young. At night, I can't go to sleep. Even though I read at night before I go to bed, I won't fall asleep for hours.

I think that's the reason I have circles under my eyes.
What can I do to sleep?

Answers:

Sleeping Pills really aren't good for anybody.

Reading before sleep can actually make you wake up more because your mind isn't winding down. Make sure that you are waking up and going to bed around the same time every day (even weekends, although I know that's harder) and your body will develop a bit of a schedule. A half hour to an hour before bed, don't watch tv or anything that's going to keep your mind awake. Take a warm bath to relax or something. When it's time for bed, turn out the lights, lay down, and try to think of something that isn't exciting or stressful.

I have had issues with sleeping since I was young too, but it just takes consistency and telling yourself "I can sleep" rather than "I can't sleep". Good luck!
