Prozac Side Effects after withdrawal?!

Question:

Prozac Side Effects after withdrawal?

I had been using prozac for 5 months before I descided to quit because I could not tolerate the anxiety and Irrational thinking even occasionally hallucinations that started affecting me while I was on it. The withdrawal process took a month and was horrible, I had panic attacks, head aches ad I was forced To use the drug now and then to relieve those symptoms. But I finally came off the drug and everything became normal. I have now been off the drug for a month but only in the last 10 days I've been experiencing some of the anxiety and abnormal thoughts that were only present when i was taking prozac. Can prozac still be the cause of these symptoms, even after almost 4 weeks of discontinution? Or has it somehow caused changes in the chemical processes of my brain which may remain long after it is gone? please help me if you have any knowledge regarding this. thank you

Answers:

hi i was on some anti-depressants and with almost all anti-depressants they can cause a relapse when you go off them.....
I had the same problems with mine I had very vivid dreams every night that wouldnt go away.......

I stopped suddenly as well and it is a bad withdrawl process....
If you were on it for even only 5 months it can probably take up to a few months to recover especially as you can have unstable moods as you were used to having your mood stabalised by the drug.....
I would say the symptoms you have been experiencing are still apart of the withdrawl symtoms, it is good for you to identify these problems and the possible source so keep an eye on them to make sure they dont get worse especially after they have gotten better for 4 weeks so far.
