Should i go on antidepressents?!

Question:

Should i go on antidepressents?

hi i was on anti depressents during teenage years.... 14-16, I was on two different types with Aroxpax being one of them
I have also read a few times this drug makes people more violent agitated and depressed...
I think the drug was giving me some really bad side effects... I was advised to keep taking them until I was 18-19....
I stoped taking these suddenly when I was 16 and it obviously caused bad relapses.......
I really have it a lot better under control but I have bad pot smoking habits and occasionally drinking habits..
I really want to kick these so I am not sure if I should go on anti-depressants again as I dont want to sink into those dark times again, and pot has in a sense really helped me as an alternative to very heavy anti-depressants.
I am now 21 and at school and these habits are really getting in the way of my study.
Can anyone give me some good advice because I want to be mentally more healthy and if I need be on anything, without it having bad side effects?

Hi thanks for answers so far, this is the problem, I have been to a doctor for heavy anti-depressants when I was 14.....
While I was on them I was so happy I didnt think I needed them any more 2 years later....
They also were giving me strange side effects and were really messing with my perception on life.....
The problem is pot helped me ease off them and helped me function a lot better than I had....
I cant explain the way I was feeling even on anti-depressants, but it didnt really seem to help.
I really want to take less drugs but pot makes me happy and anti-depressants didnt do it for me.
I have seen doctors and their solution is to put me on anti-depressants.
My last Psychologist didnt really see that much of a concern in my pot smoking and didnt really feel I needed anti-depressants if I didnt want them.
So I dont know if pot really is the problem or a solution.
One man's drug is another man's poison.

Answers:

Medicinal marijuana can be a very effective treatment for depression, and the side affects and risks are far less than the anti-depressents you are taking.

However, alcohol is a depressent. It would be canceling out most of the good the marijuana was doing you. If you want to see if marijuana will help you, stop drinking for a while, keep a journal of your emotions, and really figure it out.
