1) Paul Meehl's diathesis-stress model which postulates that a person is born with a predisposition to develop the disorder known as "schizotaxia", that they develop a particular personality style known as "schizotypy" and that with the right environmental stressors the predisposition will develop into the full blown disorder of Schizophrenia.
2) Fromm-Reichman's theory of the "schizophrenogenic mother" which postulates that mothers who continually create "double-binds" for their children (situations in which there is no way to win) actually induce schizophrenia in their children. Please realize this is totally disproven and simply an old theory with no current salience or validity.
