Short Term Memory Loss - Male Age 34?!

Question:

Short Term Memory Loss - Male Age 34?

My husband, age 34, is experiencing issues with memory loss. 3 years ago he had a TIA (transient ischemic attack) Nothing was found on the MRI done afterward and the neurologist said it would likely never happen again. But over the last year his short term memory has become very poor. For example: today we were talking and I gave him a phone number to call. Less than one minute later he asked me for the phone number - I had just given it to him. Similar things happen all the time - he will respond to questions, participate in a conversation and then fail to remember it just minutes later.

When I tell him we just talked about something he jokes that he must have tuned me out. This is more serious than that - he is responding and participating in conversations that he does not recall; I think it has affected his work performance and I want him to get help. Of course he does not think anything is wrong so he doesn't see a need to see a doctor.

I appreciate any insight!

Answers:

If he is depressed that would be one cause. Otherwise its just age.
