Has anyone had Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)?!
Question:
Has anyone had Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)?
I am not asking anyone who has not had it done pesonally or to a close personal friend or family member...I have researsearched it extensively through books internet and my doctors. At this point I am only looking for personal responses.

At least it didn't take away my ability to read your question and to realize that I can answer you. That is because I've had ECT. I bet you get more answers from people who can't read the question than from people who have had ECT!
Anyway - I had been in a real deep depression for several months and nothing was able to help me. This was the "I can't get out of bed" type of depression. I had approx. 6 sessions of ECT. I did have some memory loss. My memory has returned over time.
My take on the whole thing is that, while it is a bit extreme, my condition was also extreme. I actually doubt that I would still be alive without the ECT.
If you're asking because ECT has been recommended to you, then I suggest you consider having it. Ignore the comments of people who don't know what it is like to come to the point in your life that ECT has to be considered.
