Did anyone attempt suicide by alcohol and otc sleeping pills overdose?!

Question:

Did anyone attempt suicide by alcohol and otc sleeping pills overdose?

If anyone has attempted or know someone who succeeded at overdosing on otc sleeping pills and alcohol, then describe what it was like. And if someone you know had actually succeeded at dying, how long did it take and what condition were they in when they died. ( I know someone who died this way, that's why i'm asking )

Answers:

No, but I've overdosed on Trazodone. It's an antidepressant commonly given to patients who have depression or anxiety related insomnia because it has a sleepy side effect.

What happened is that I got very tired and felt like I couldn't breath. You know when you're having alcohol poisoning and passing out and it takes work to breath? Just like that. Of course, I couldn't just stop breathing, the body doesn't allow it easily. My heart was beating very fast and pounding in my ears. I didn't have the energy to move and then I started vomitting. I vomitted so much and this is embarassing, but I peed myself while vomitting. I then started going in and out of conciousness and I was hallucinating. It sounded like a radio was on and was playing very loudly on many different stations. Sort of like what an AM radio would sound like between stations.

I passed out again and woke up maybe later that day maybe the next day when my room mate tried to get me to answer the phone. My now husband, then boyfriend, was calling and wanted to hang out that night, so I said fine. I slept for a few more hours and just barely made it to the door. I couldn't sit up without falling over and my heart was still pounding every time I moved. He got me some food and some alcohol and I started to feel better.

That was years ago and while I never went to the doctor for the overdose, cause they'd just commit me, I've had tests done later and I'm healthy, so much for even permanent damage.
