I took my stereo remote with me , thinking it was my cell phone...?
and was almost all the way to work before I realized what I had done. Is this a sign I have finally gone insane?

It could just be you were preoccupied. Once, I had a lot on my mind, and when I came out of the grocery store, I got in the passenger side of my car, even though I was alone, and was driving!
