Why has my brain done this!?
i use internet banking, at least 4 times a week checking my account. i have never written my password number down as i've always remembered it. i've had the same password number for 2 years. today i can't remember it! it's gone completely! i\ve had to ask them to send it to me(3 working days). why has my brain gone on strike like this?

You havn't forgotten it, it is a question of retrieval from your memory.
To prove this, once you receive your password you will recognise it immediately - it will not be a case of learning to memorise it again.
Your memory works in many ways, with memories connected together like branches of a tree - which is why psychiatrists have "word association" therapies to discover the way individual peoples minds work.
I reckon you will remember your password before it comes in the post. Don't try too hard, or your memory will flow around the answer rather than to it!
