Hi, I am a 47 yr.old Mother of two teenage children. I live in Edison, NJ. I really need to get a job. I have been very fortunate to be able to stay at home & raise my kids. But I really need to get a life of my own & help out financially. I used to be a bank supervisor, have experience in shiping & receiving ect.. I have been so frustrated! Last yr. I worked for a law firm for 3 mos. It was horrible! Not the job but dealing with the lawer I worked for. There was so much verbal abuse that I had to quit! I have been trying to find a job where I can work with the public,( not in a stuffy office). I decided to try & be a waitress. It is the hardest job I every had in my life! But I Love it! It`s something I really want to do. I have received a lot of teasing about this job. It is so underestimated! I could never work a whole section by myself. Do you know if they ever let a waitress work only part of a section? I have such respect for all the other waitress`s in the world! Please help!:)

I waitressed for a few years before beginning my career as a paralegal. ( I know what you mean about dealing with the lawyers and the stuffy office). If I had my choice, i'd rather waitress any day. Unfortunately, being a paralegal pays much better. Maybe if I marry a man who makes a ton of money, I can go back to doing what I really enjoyed. Being a waitress is often a thankless, disrespected job but any one who knocks it probablly couldn't do it. Keep doing what u love! Ask the manager or supervisor about the partial section. Just let them know you don't feel comfortable with that many tables at once and you want to be able to provide the customer with the best possible service. A smaller section will allow you to do so.
