How to create and maintain a good mood?

I often feel grumpy or really sad after i wake up in the morning. Sometimes i might feel better for a little while, but it's always temporary. How can i be happy without taking any antidepressants. I took zoloft for a while but i couldn't take it anymore

Exercise increases beta-endorphins and serotonin levels in to the brain, which are neurotransmitters closely linked to mood. Serotonin in particular is the neurotransmitter targeted by many of our antidepressants, including Zoloft, and serves as a mood regulator. Engaging in rigorous exercise from 30-45 minutes per day will increase levels of serotonin and improve mood, and is actually more effective than medication. Make a real committment to take part in everyday exercise.
