Could my past of being bullied be affecting my now?!

Question:

Could my past of being bullied be affecting my now?

I was bullied and picked on all my life. In grade school i was called a loser a nerd and an offbeat(came from some cartoon that was out at the time). In jr. high i was teased and called a lesbian, which iw as not, nothing against gay/lesbian/bi people, but i wasn't one, so it was not a pleasant thing to be called. In high school a love for music grew and i was called a band nerd, and i became excellent in academics and was called a geek. There was a hall i had to walk thru to get to classes, that all the jocks and party kids sat in and would throw things at me, call me names, trip, and push me down the hall. I don't trust people at all, and i'm constantly paranoid that people are talking about and laughing at me. I am highly social and make friends easily, but push them away quickly after. Could this all be because of the bullying i went through growing up?

Answers:

As I was growing up, I learned that if a bully started on me, I had to go into attack mode instantly if I was to have any chance of not having the snot beat out of me. As an adult, it took me a long time to get over my quick (and often angry) response to stressful situations, even when they were not threatening. Work with a professional. It helped me greatly.
