Work/school problem?!

Question:

Work/school problem?

i am trying to get further at work, but i always end up in trouble cause i forgot something or got distracted. i am always SO hyper and very spacey. it is like my brain doesn't have a slow down switch or something.

i do not know if i want to attempt college or not cause unless the teacher is including me in talking i get distracted and figety and just forget what is going on. i graduated with B's cause i can remember facts pretty well, but i can't do an assignment for more than a few minutes because i get so hyped up and start scribbling instead of writing.

i am getting way frustrated cause my mom says ADD doesn't exist, so i am stuck. how do you deal w/ being hyper and constantly needing to be doing something? i know it is probly ADD, but my parents just don't believe me.

we have no insurance so we only see doctors if it is life or death.. like if one of us is passing out or coughing up blood, and even then it waits a few days

Answers:

It sounds like ADD or possibly ADHD could be your problem. If you're thinking about colllege, you're obviously almost 18. so you should be able to get tested for this yourself now. I realize you're under your parents insurance still... try talking to your doctor about it and see if he can make a diagnosis, schedule a test, anything. Or at the very least have him talk to your parents about the seriousness of the problem to your future.
Because it sounds like this kind of distraction can't go unnoticed. Especially if you're actually considering not going to college. Your parents should take this very seriously.
