Hearing voices?!

Question:

Hearing voices?

I was just wondering whether my "hearing voices" is actually a mental health problem. I understand that in most cases it is but I'm fairly sure my "case" is different.
Basically, most days I hear angry voices in my head. They're not at all clear and it just sounds as if a few people with pillows over their mouths are having a very manic argument. As you can imagine it's extremely disconcerting. I've been experiencing this since I was about 15 (roughly 4 years) and haven't ever really discussed it with anyone, but recently the voices have been getting louder and more frequent.
The only way I've found to make it (temporarily) go away is to drown them out with loud music etc.
So my question is just, should I be worried? Is this the whole "hearing voices" leading to madness scenario? Or is it just normal?
Thanks

Answers:

sometimes this can be normal especially right before bed or first thing in the morning.

but Please see a doctor immediately. If it is mental health related, it will get worse quickly. So it's worth checking out. Especially if you're finding that you can't concentrate, are getting in fights with people or feeling angry. If you're having severe mood swings, voices can also accompany bipolar disorder.

You sound rational and on the ball. You also don't sound delusional so as far as your post goes, you seem ok. Especially since you feel concern about the situation and you recognize that something might be medically wrong. That's a very, very good sign that you are still functioning cognitively.

Just check it out and don't worry too much. Sometimes weird things happen. Our brains are very strange :)
