What does it mean when an animal is 'reticulated'?!

Question:

What does it mean when an animal is 'reticulated'?

I was told the answer before...but I totally forgot!

Answers:

Two animals which spring to mind are the Giraffe and the python - both of which come in the reticulated variety.

To be reticulated, means to have the form of a grid - or network, in this instance I think it means the pattern of the skin/coat of the animal.

(though aren't all giraffes reticulated?)
