Question:

Can Someone Tell Me The disorder Or Problem With My Uncle It's Psychological Read Details?

My uncle has this problem with continuously repeating something I believe he is unsure about OR wants to be true. My uncle in generally very normal but as an example a couple days ago he wasn't sure if a check he got for something would clear the bank. Every once in a while he would say "the check will clear the bank becasue Sam is a pilot and makes thousands a year" He would say that sometimes dozens of times a day at CERTAIN TIMES. Some times he point at things when he says these phrases as well. There have been others usually IT'S SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUS but he has to state it over and over again at certain times. CAN ANYONE HELP ME??

Thanks!!

Answers:

According to popular psychological theory, most people would say this is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). However, it could be that your uncle has an anxiety disorder that gives him a problem in dealing with stress. If so, then when he goes over his stress threshold (which might be low) then he will do repetitive things to reassure himself and thus lower his stress level back to a manageable level. Try giving him something physical to do when he starts repeating himself (like chopping vegetables, or counting things, or folding & sorting clean laundry). This will give him an outlet for his energy and give a non-verbal cue that he is not having to deal with things that are out of his control...
