Why am I scared to sleep?!


Question:

Why am I scared to sleep?

I hate sleeping...I hate the dark...how do I get over this? I think I'm just afriad I'll fall asleep and never wake up again...any suggestions? =\


Answers:

Fear of the dark (achluophobia or noctiphobia) is extremely common. Try getting some lighting in the room where you sleep, maybe even go to bed when it's still light out. If you live with other people, it can help sometimes to go to bed before they do. It's at least calming to know that if anything happens to you, someone will be awake to help you, and you'll feel less alone when trying to fall asleep if you can hear other people moving around.

If you've tried everything and nothing has worked, it's time to see a doctor. But make sure that you try what we (me and the person above me) recommended before you assume it's anything too severe.
