How can I stop myself from screaming IRL after having a nightmare?

For a few weeks now, I've have awaken from nightmares screaming. It has never happened before, and it's been 4 times that I do this now. It's quite disturbing since I get very nervous after, and I end up waking everyone up.

Why does this happen and how can I prevent this from happening in the future? I don't feel like freaking people out.

first try to think about what you have been doing different in the last 2 weeks. for example did your doctor put you on a new medication or increase a dose of the same medications. Side affects such as nightmares can occur with certain medications. Also has you diet changed. you may be eating something that causes nightmares or not eating something that prevent them. Is the nightmare the same every time. This will require help from a psychiatrist and you may need some medications to suppress the nightmares. i hope this helped you.
