Do addicts or alcoholics often dream of their old abuses?
My buddy confided in me that he sometimes dreams of drinking alcohol even after not using it for over a year now. I said it might be because it used to be part of his regular day. What is going on here? Is he in danger of starting to drink again?

absolutely...addicts and alcoholics dream of thier old abuses; however, if they are attempting to recover thier dreams may be of a more symbolic and frightening nature.
"the monkey on the back!" so often the recovering alcoholic will have dreams, of course it may not be a monkey...could be anything...we will call it: the monkey...the monkey may be chasing them...reaching out to them...reaching up for them...usually the dream is not a dream; but, a nightmare and how the alcoholic or addict relates to the Monkey is very symbolic of how they are relating to thier own particular recovery
