Cutting and getting help?!

Cutting and getting help?

If you are a cutter, is the only possible to really get over it by seeing a therapist or telling other people.

I had cut myself about two or three months back, and thought I got over it, but I cut myself about a week or two ago (though I haven't done it since). Is it possible for cutting to go away on its own, or does there have to be some sort of therapy/intervention for it to ever really go away.


Answers:

It really does depend on what the underline issue is why do you cut? if it was just a momentary frustration and you do not do it regularly you can probably stop your self by getting other coping mechanisms and not focusing on it however if the issue is always there and you often feel the urge to cut you might have problems which need professional help.
