she went manic the first time ever last year, and we put her in the hospital where they medicated her and her Mania finally went away and she returned back to normal...
but it returned a yr and a half later...
so we put her in the hospital where they tweaked her meds, and it seemed like she was finally getting better and her mania slowly going away,,, but after a weekend spent with her boyfriend who encourages her not to take meds because of the side-effects , i believe she didnt take her meds cuz when she returned home, she was completely MANIC again...her boyfriend tells her she'll gain weight, get liver damage etc., but her actions when she's manic is more dangerous then those side-effects, like ahem* SUICIDE!!!! she does crazy stuff when she's manic, and shes concerned about 'liver damage' when she smokes a pack of cigs a day!
Answers:
I think you need to talk to her boyfriend and slap some sense into that dumbass. If she is listening to him mostly, you need to make him see what he is doing. If her medicine is not taken, after a while your mind breaks down. Some people might have hallucinations if it goes on for too long. Keep in mind its very unlikely she will listen to her family since in her mind it was *you* guys who put her in the hospital. I know that hurts but sometimes we see things that way even though its not the truth
