Probs when finally ready to get help?!

Question:

Probs when finally ready to get help?

I battled what I hate to admit could be labelled as "depression" for quite some time now. It was the absolute worst over a year ago & the #1 thing that's been keeping me from reaching that state again is the sheer fear of how bad it was. I was always highly against seeing someone for it but have finally decided that I refuse to live like this anymore. I know I'm a caring, attractive, ambitious & intelligent person so it's stupid to feel unidentifiably down so often. Problem is that I will only be in this city for another few weeks. Then I am going back to my parents' for a couple of months & then I come back here & start school again. I'd like to get this somewhat dealt with before school starts but I have an HMO & can't see someone outside this city. I don't know if I can get an appt w/in the next 2 weeks. This thing I have makes me feel awkward & it's starting to manifest itself through perpetual insomnia so I'd really like to take care of it soon. Any tips?

Answers:

Definately try and find a doc or counslor in your HMO network as soon as you can. It will most likely not work the way you need it to. There are also some wonderful self help tools out there. Workbooks, books, and online support groups. This may help you start to get out of the slump before you come back and are able to attack at full strength. At the risk of sounding completely lame and nerdy, depression is something that you could be fighting your entire life. How you fight is different for everyone, thats why there are so many different resources. But it is a time to heal issue. Good luck. Need to talk or anything email me.
