Now dont get me wrong, I know its quite a bit of work coming off of certain Brain drugs...I know because I have come off of Paxil before...I did however come down so slowly that it didnt drastically put my brain into shock...I could say it was a succesful weening process for me with Paxil. Has anyone had a somewhat alright time weening off of Effexor(with farely mild symptoms) because of a VERY gradual decrease in the little balls in the capsule? How long were you on it and how much was your highest dose?

Effexor withdrawal can be a real b!tch. If you are on 150mg/day or less, then you are usually OK, but anything higher than this and you need to cut down very gradually, in 75mg or even 37.5mg steps every 3-4 days until you are off it. Starting fluoxetine (Prozac) temporarily while you come of Effexor can alleviate the withdrawal symptoms, and fluoxetine is much easier to come off (once you have stopped the Effexor) as it has a long half-life in the body.
