Anti-Anxiety & Depression Meds?!

Question:

Anti-Anxiety & Depression Meds?

I've taken differ kinds since the age of 10 & got off of them completely @ 16. They made me gain weight, think slowly, & made me feel like I was in a highly sedated state.

Do you currently take them or used to? If not, do you know anyone who has or is? What side effects did/do you or they have? What are the negative influences they could have on the body besides from the controversal suicide attempts?

I want to know personal stories & influences about these meds then from what the FDA mentions.

Answers:

Yes, my daughter takes medications for anxiety (she has OCD). Everyone is affected differently, but for her Effexor was the worst one (the most side effects: couldn't sleep, spinning head the worst ones) and it actually increased her anxiety level. She has since been on Luvox, Clomazipam, Clomipramine, probably more, they have given her weight gain, memory loss, thinking slowly, probably more. The withdrawal from all of these drugs are horrific; doctors don't seem to think it is a big deal, but then they have never been on them, have they? She has made sure she hasn't been on neuroleptics (anti-psyochotics) because of their long-term damage. Her fear is overmedication, and keeps on top of the medications she is prescribed. Her best results came from a non-drug source, exposure therapy, provided by a psychologist.

Drugs certainly have their place, but they cannot be relied upon 100%.
