Answers:

The stigma connected to mental health issues has lessened. Think of it this way: If you broke your arm you would seek medical treatment, right? Depression is no different.

It IS difficult to admit it to yourself sometimes and it IS difficult to ask for help. Those who actually do seek help are the strong ones. Ask for help; it is ok.

And just because you are depressed does not mean that you will do something extreme like hurt your children. I have 4 kids and have suffered with depression but I do not take it out on them. Not everyone who is depressed is suicidal. Some are, but if you seek help you find that there are other options.

Ask for help. It is ok. You can start by talking to your family doctor. He can refer you to a doctor that specializes in this and also to a counselor if necessary.
